The official website of the upcoming television anime adaptation of Isuna Hasekura's "Spice & Wolf" light novel series, titled "Ōkami to Kōshinryō: merchant meets the wise wolf" (Spice & Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf), announced on Monday that the series is scheduled to premiere on April 1st. The anime will air on TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, and TV Aichi at 25:30 (which effectively translates to April 2nd at 1:30 a.m.). Additionally, the show will be broadcasted on BS TV Tokyo and AT-X.
Takeo Takahashi will be making a comeback to the franchise, this time taking on the role of chief director. Hijiri Sanpei has been appointed as the director for the anime at studio Passione. Kevin Penkin has been entrusted with composing the music, while Enishiya is set to produce the series.
Hasekura launched the Spice and Wolf novel series with illustrations by Jū Ayakura in 2006. The novels went on hiatus after the 17th volume in 2011 before resuming with the 18th volume in 2016. The latest installment, the 24th volume, was released in January 2023. Yen Press published the 24th novel in North America in August and is also handling the manga adaptation. In April 2016, Hasekura began a spinoff series titled Wolf & Parchment: New Theory Spice & Wolf, which is also being published in English by Yen Press, along with its manga adaptation.

Lawrence is a traveling merchant selling various goods from a horse-drawn cart. One day, he arrives at a village and meets a beautiful girl with the ears and tail of an animal! Her name is Holo the Wisewolf and she brings bountiful harvests. She wishes to return to her homeland, and Lawrence offers to take her. Now, the once-lonely merchant and the once-lonely wisewolf begin their journey north.
