A brief promotional video and the July premiere of the television anime adaptation of Yūsei Matsui's manga The Elusive Samurai (Nigejōzu no Wakagimi) were unveiled on Sunday at Aniplex's booth stage at AnimeJapan 2024. Asaki Yuikawa provides the voice of the main character, Hojo Tokiyuki, in the video.
Asaki Yuikawa, a rookie voice actress, will play Hojo Tokiyuki in the anime, while Yūichi Nakamura will play Suwa Yorishige.

Yasushi Nishiya is creating the characters for the anime at CloverWorks, which is directed by Yuta Yamazaki.

Plot of the story:
After the massacre of his family by the traitor Ashikaga Takauji, Tokiyuki flees with the help of a handful of loyal retainers who have also survived the purge. One of them is Suwa Yorishige, an ally of the Hojo clan and lord of Suwa Province. The slightly odd Yorishige also claims to be clairvoyant and foretells that Tokiyuki will one day become the ruler of Japan. But for the moment, escaping from enemy territory is the priority!
