A new television anime series is set to adapt Coharu Sakuraba's Minami-ke manga, according to information released at the "Mixa Animation Diary 'Minami-ke' 20th Anniversary Tanabata Festival" event on Sunday. The next anime will be the franchise's sixth television series. The last anime series in the franchise to premiere was in 2013, therefore this will be the first new television anime in at least 11 years.
On Sunday, the franchise had a tanabata event to commemorate its 20 years (picture on the linked link).
In 2004, Sakuraba began publishing the continuing manga series Minami-ke in Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine. On June 6, Kodansha released the 26th collected book volume of the manga.
The manga inspired four television anime in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2013, as well as three OVAs in 2009, 2012, and 2013.
